hello san antonio

BOLC! I arrived in San Antonio, Texas, about a week ago to start my Medical Service Basic Officer Leadership Course (BOLC) for the US Army. I took a 4-day road trip to get down here, spending time in Hot Springs National Park and visiting my best friend Lusi at Shepard Air Force Base. It was quite the adventure, and I am grateful I was able to get the time to explore and see everything on the way.

My first week of training has been great. I am lucky enough to be currently staying on the Riverwalk while we are training, so the walkway is just a couple of minutes from my hotel. I have been able to go on some great walks and runs along the Riverwalk. Training has been good, just a lot of presentations and listening to different briefs. My after training time is spent running and studying for my upcoming examinations! I have found some great coffee shops and am excited to spend time getting to explore more.

My first weekend here was spent going line dancing (I still need to learn; it’s really funny), studying with friends, and going to church. I have met some really awesome people while here and am looking forward to going on more adventures. San Antonio really has a lot of things to do and places to try. Well, that’s all for now. This is Katie, signing off.
